Why does the UPS battery fail early? UPS battery failure and scrapping process. The design and production process of the UPS battery determine the inherent reliability of the battery pack, and the use and maintenance of the UPS battery pack is the basis for ensuring the reliability of the battery pack. Proper use and maintenance can prolong its service life, otherwise its service life will be greatly shortened. The premature scrapping of a large number of UPS batteries has caused a huge waste of resources, and at the same time caused the company's operating costs to increase. Improper disposal of waste UPS batteries has also caused environmental pollution.
Reasons for early failure of UPS batteries
1. Early failure of UPS batteries refers to the fact that the performance of individual batteries deteriorates sharply and the capacity is lower than 80% of the rated value during the use of the battery pack for only a few months or one year, which leads to the fundamental cause of early failure of UPS batteries. The reason is that the positive and negative plates in the battery are out of contact with the electrolyte in the AGM separator.
2. The performance and service life of UPS battery depends on the materials used to make the positive and negative plates, the industrial environment, the composition of the purity of the active material, the use environment and maintenance, etc., which have important influences.
3. Some UPS batteries with early failure in a group of UPS batteries are generally caused by individual accidental factors in the production process, such as tiny lead particles falling into the electrode group when welding the electrode group, and the amount of acid added is not controlled. Strict, unqualified parts loading, some raw materials are unqualified, etc.
UPS battery failure and scrapping process
(1) Clean the top of all batteries
(2) Classify the batteries according to the same brand and model;
(3) Pick out all the damaged, corroded, or leaking parts, and this part will not be repaired;
Non-magnetic low temperature 18650 2200mAh
Non-magnetic low temperature 18650 2200mAh
-40℃ 0.5C discharge capacity≥70%
Charging temperature: 0~45℃
Discharge temperature: -40~+55℃
-40℃ maximum discharge rate: 1C
-40℃ discharge capacity retention rate: 0.5C discharge capacity ≥ 70%
(4) Arrange them in an even sequence, which is convenient for connecting the positive and negative poles;
(5) Connect the battery with a connecting strip;
(6) Connect the charger to the positive and negative poles;
(7) Charge for one hour, discharge after detecting the UPS battery, and detect whether there is a short circuit or open circuit;
(8) When the repair conditions are met, connect the discharge system as required;
(9) Adjust the standard data of the discharge system to make it meet the standard of the battery;
(10) Start the discharge, and after the discharge is over, add deionized water in a ratio of 1:1, and add 10% regenerant;
(11) Charge for 16 hours and then discharge cycle.
The UPS battery will be in a floating charge state for a long time, which will lead to a decrease in the activity of the battery's chemical energy and electrical energy conversion, accelerated aging and shortened service life. Therefore, it should be fully discharged once every 2-3 months, and let the UPS battery discharge for a period of time. This will not only activate the UPS battery, but also check whether the battery is in a normal state. At the same time, the UPS should be charged in a timely manner and for a long time to prevent failures caused by the failure of the UPS battery.
